Chinese Name:  Guo, Lu Fang

With a name like "Fragrant Dew", we're guessing she wasn't named by anyone who had to change her.  ;-)  The name is pronounced like "Lou Fahng".  Since Chinese languages are tonal as well, it's important to say the Lu part with a decending tone "\", and the Fang part with a level tone "--".  I'm not sure what I was saying when I did it wrong, but it sure got a lot of laughter!  Turns out that "Fang Pi" is a rude term for gas, and "Yu Fang" means "Fragrant Jade"

U.S. Name:  We finally arived at Kayleigh Marie.  Thanks to everyone who voted.

Birthdate:  She was born September 25, 2001.  Another Fall birthday!

Birthplace:  She was found on the 30th of September, abandoned at a marketplace called "something Bridge Market", by police.  The police took her to the orphanage where she's been ever since.

Orphanage:  The orphanage is the Zhuzhou City Children's Social Welfare Institute located in the city of Zhuzhou (pronounced Ju Joe).  Zhuzhou is in the Hunan Province which is in the Southern part of China, North and West of Hong Kong.  The capitol of the province is Guangzhou (pronounced Chang Shaou).  We'll fly into the capitol as that's where the U.S. Consulate is.  From there, we'll fly to Zhuzhou.

According to what little we have, she likes playing with toys (her favorite is a rattle drum and bells), she's eating rice cake, and is healthy.

As of February 27th:

Height:  59 cm (1' 11")
Weight:  7 kg (15 lbs.)

That's about it for now.  We've got to get her records into the doctor.  Assuming he gives everything a thumb's up, we sign an acceptance.  That get's sent off to China with a letter.  Then they set a date with the Chinese officials.  Once that's done, we back date to find out when we leave!

Keep us in your prayers,

Calvin
